Driving home from my first time taking my kids out to feed the homeless in our community my son and daughter had an argument about the brownies they were serving.

My 12 year son told his 5 year old sister that she was giving too many brownies to a homeless man that kept coming back for more, she was upset with him and saying that he was hungry and she wanted to make him happy, he replied that he wanted to make him happy too but that he also wanted to make sure there was enough for all the other hungry people there on that day. Both their feelings were hurt by what the other was saying.

I explained to them that they were both correct because they were experiencing the same compassion in their hearts for the homeless that day regardless of how the brownies were served.
