Because it is made from fruits and vegetables, a green smoothie contains several vitamins and minerals in addition to photo nutrients and omega 3 fatty acids.

What can these substances do to the body?

They can prevent cardiovascular diseases and certain cancers, promote healthy digestion, healthier liver and kidney, adequate blood sugar levels, clearer vision, smoother skin and a stronger immune system. In addition, greens contain chlorophyll, a substance which closely resembles human blood. According to some experts, having a glass of green smoothies drink is like receiving a blood transfusion.

The nutrients found in a glass of green smoothies drink is easier to absorb by the body. Plants have cellular walls that have to be broken down in order for the body to assimilate the nutrients. This is usually done by chewing. With smoothies, this is already accomplished by the blending process, so nutrient absorption starts immediately after drinking. Studies show that chewing allows forty percent absorption while blending allows ninety-five percent. This clearly indicates that drinking green smoothies is much better than eating a bowl of salad.
