Some people are born cooks. They can crack an egg with their left hand while sifting flour with the right. Others, not so much. I once asked a friend to pick up a carton of cream from the grocery store. Imagine my surprise when she came back with a box of Dream Whip powdered whipped topping mix. (Yes, that STILL exists.) This was the only ‘cream’ she’d ever seen in her mother’s kitchen. As soon as she parked her time machine, I explained the difference to her. We didn't know it at the time, but she was my first student.

If you don't know a pot from a pan, can't boil an egg or have no idea how to mise en place, YOU are my people! Making cooking simple is my super power, whether I'm teaching a cooking class, cooking a dinner party for a personal chef client or sharing tips, tools and techniques online at CookingClarified.com. My goal - in all of my culinary adventures - is to demystify cooking for everyone intimidated by braising, poaching or sautéing.
I've been fortunate enough to share my approach to cooking on live and recorded television shows on numerous occasions. I've had the pleasure of cooking with my local DC news teams and nationally on the Mr. Food syndicated cooking show. My YouTube channel is also loaded with my video cooking tips and recipes. I've banked more than 10 years as a personal chef, cooking instructor, food writer and food stylist. (You can check me out at ChefDanielleTurner.com.) The sum of all those parts is a knack for simplifying all things culinary. I can't think of a better venue to share my love for food and cooking than the Today Show!
