A very simple light Japanese version of this dish that my family just loves.

Mabo Tofu

  • Servings: 1
  • Yield: 6
  • Prep Time: 5 min
  • Cooking Time: 25 min

Ingredients

  • 1 block Tofu
  • 3 green onions
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp korean chili powder
  • ½ lb ground turkey
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp Miso
  • 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Sake
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1 cup water

Preparation

  1. Cut Tofu into 1" cubes.
  2. Slice green onions thinly. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for the seasonings (miso, soy, sake, sugar, cornstarch & water) until Miso dissolves. Set aside.
  4. Heat oil in a wok at medium heat, add garlic, ginger, and red pepper, and stir.
  5. Add ground pork and cook until browned. Add the seasonings and let it boil.
  6. Add cut Tofu and stir gently.
  7. When Tofu is cooked through, stir in green onions and sesame oil.

I suggest serving this with a short grained white or brown rice.
