Pan Seared Cabbage

This cabbage bites back just enough. And keeps you coming back for more with its secret nuttiness.

Pan Seared Cabbage

  • Servings: 1 cup
  • Yield: ~ 5-6 servings
  • Prep Time: 10 min
  • Cooking Time: 20 min

Ingredients

  • ½ head purple cabbage
  • ½ head green cabbage
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • zest of ½ lemon
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tbls mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbls butter

Preparation

  1. Chop Cabbage and onion
  2. Melt butter in skillet on medium
  3. Add lemon zest, let sizzle but not burn
  4. Add cabbage and onion to skillet and toss to coat with butter-zest
  5. Add remaining dry ingredients and toss to coat
  6. Cover and cook on medium high for 5 minutes
  7. Uncover, add lemon juice, toss to coat
  8. Cover and cook another 5 minutes
  9. Keep skillet hot to get the golden brown nutty flavor
  10. Uncover, taste, add spices if needed
  11. Cook to desired tenderness
