"Smokey" Jalapeno Poppers
- Yield: 36 poppers
- Prep Time: 30 min
- Cooking Time: 45 min
Ingredients
- 18 jalapeño peppers, cut in half and seeded
- Onion & Chive flavored cream cheese, 8 oz
- 18 cocktail sausages, cut in half lengthwise
- 1 pckg bacon, cut into 3rds
- Brown sugar, ½ cup
- 36 toothpicks
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Sauté cocktail sausages until lightly browned
- Smear cream cheese into one of the jalapenos
- Place a halved cocktail sausage on top
- Wrap with a ⅓ piece of bacon
- Secure with toothpicks and place on a large baking sheet
- Repeat with remaining ingredients
- Sprinkle on brown sugar (this helps carmelize bacon)
- Bake for 45 minutes, turning over halfway
- Hint: for best results and extra crispness, I either use a wire rack in my baking sheet
- Or I place them on a different baking sheet when I turn them over.
