Every child is different; therefore, every education should be different. That make sense, right? Most curriculums plan for students to be grouped by educational needs, but for some students, independent help is not only necessary, but also more readily available than parents traditionally think.

As a parent, if your child is in need of this additional educational support, know that is it not only available for your child, but also mandated by Federal law. Schools must provide students the support they need and, in fact, every school district must have a child-focused committee aiding and assessing the support needs of students.

While every student may not need the same solution, for school districts with geographic, financial, or need-based distribution, working with an outsourced education provider like Therapy Source (http://www.txsource.com)/ may just be the answer they have been looking for. Founded almost two decades ago, Therapy Source was created for the express purpose of partnering with schools and school systems, offering them top tier support on an outsourced basis. Therapy Source is an advocate for schools and a provider of special services which are, in turn, received directly by students.

Phillip Puleo, Eastern Regional Director of Therapy Source believes that, “our job is to remain impartial between schools and parents. We are most effective when we are matching the best professionals with the needs of the (school) districts themselves.”

Special assistance in school comes in many forms. According the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, “Special education teachers work with students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. They adapt general education lessons and teach various subjects, such as reading, writing, and math, to students with mild and moderate disabilities. They also teach basic skills, such as literacy and communication techniques, to students with severe disabilities.”

Understanding when a child needs additional support is sometimes difficult. Most people don’t know or understand that when their children are having additional challenges with school learning, they can request information from the school district to help understand the needs-based determination from the school district. A child’s educational path is protected by law and therefore, so are parents. When requests are made, companies like Therapy Source get to work, enabling both staffing and teaching solutions to remain onsite in school, working with school districts directly to help change the school experience, one child at a time.

“When this happens,” according to Puleo, “the entire process becomes a partnership between the schools, the parents, and the teachers we bring in to the schools. Our role is to get the services to schools, so the students who need them most can get back to learning,” said Puleo.
