As a self-taught baker, I love to try all sorts of cake flavors and decorating techniques, and then teach others just how easy it can be to create these amazing cakes themselves. Most recently, I appeared on a local news station to demonstrate how to get a watercolor look on a cake with buttercream
- After applying a base coat of frosting, apply small lines of buttercream randomly around the cake. You can use as many colors as you want (I recommend 3-4 colors), all from the same color palette or any combination of colors you'd like. Start with one color, and then add small stripes of the other colors above and below one another.
- Once your cake is covered in small patches of these colorful stripes, hold your scraper or palette knife at a 45 degree angle and slide it around the cake to smooth and blend the colors.
- Add frosting to areas that didn't get covered or have air bubbles, and use the scraper to blend again.

After frosting the cake, you can then use a white chocolate ganache (1 part cream to 2 parts white chocolate chips, melted) to create a drip effect on the side of the cake. Top it off with a candy explosion on top by adding your favorite treats.
