The COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing, and it doesn’t seem like things are going to slow down anytime soon. Quite on the contrary, there are many reasons to believe that the situation will ramp up in some parts of the world, as governments continue to face problems in tackling the issues that have arisen. And of course, it’s important for everyone to maintain a responsible attitude to the situation and to keep an eye on their own safety. Because in the end, we’re directly responsible for stopping the rapid spread of the virus.

Stock Up Responsibly

Hoarding has already become a major problem in this situation, and it’s affecting some people severely. And while it’s important to ensure that you’re fully stocked up on everything that you’ll need to survive, you should keep two things in mind: one, leave enough for everyone else. You don’t really need a dozen packets of toilet paper. Second, think about the future. All of that low-grade canned food you’re stocking up on now will have to be eaten at some point after the pandemic is over, if you don’t want to let it go to waste.

Plan in Advance

A lot is changing right now, and a lot will change on a global scale once the pandemic is over. There will be lots of difficulties in adjusting to the new life, and it’s important to get started as early as possible with your planning for this. If you’ve had a plan for a side gig, now is the time to explore it. Sort out your financial issues, get your health in order, reignite old contacts (though remotely, of course). The thing is, if you come out of this situation and you still haven’t done any of those things, you no longer have the excuse of time. You’re just being lazy.

Don’t Ignore Symptoms

While the virus is relatively harmless for a large number of people, there are those who go through it with much more severe symptoms than others. And in some cases, the situation can deteriorate very fast. The point is, if you suspect something might be wrong, don’t postpone getting yourself checked out. Do it responsibly of course – the healthcare system is overloaded as is, and you don’t want to contribute even more to that without a good reason. But it’s better to stay safe than sorry if it turns out that you do actually have it.

Keep Track of the Situation

Time can start going fast, with the days getting blurrier and more distorted as this continues. This can have various psychological effects that are not to be underestimated, and it’s a good idea to do something to prevent it. Keep track of your situation and log as much as you can on a daily basis. Start a diary if you have to. The point is that you should establish some system that allows you to keep track of what’s going on in an objective manner, instead of relying on your own perceptions. Because those perceptions are going to start getting skewed very fast.

This is one more challenge that we have to go through in our lives. But remember that people have survived worse in the past. After all, some of our very close ancestors were getting called to go out, grab a gun and fight in a war. We’re being called on to sit at home and wait for this to pass. You can do this – and you will come out a better person if you put your mind to it, too, so get started now!
