Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

After many fertility treatments and miscarriages, we found out that there was not only one heartbeat, but two. I was pregnant with twins. The pregnancy took a big turn when we found out that it was a very High-Risk pregnancy. I was pregnant with mono-mono twins and by week 12, I was already in bed rest, it was one of those day by day pregnancy. I had to stop working. Being in bed rest and having no family close was hard. My husband was carrying all the load and the only thing we could do was keep our fingers crossed and pray.

At about 20 weeks into the pregnancy, we got into a car accident. Fortunately, everything was ok with us and the babies, but once again, we were left with no car.

I was 23 weeks the day I went inpatient. I remember going to my regular doctor’s appointment and from there walking directly to the hospital. I was inpatient for almost 5 weeks and spent Christmas and New Years at the hospital. Fortunately, my mom and my dad came and spent some days with me while inpatient. My parents left January 6th and their plan was to come back once the babies were born, my mom even left her suitcase at my house, her plan was to bring a suitcase all full of things for the girls.

I had my girls at 27 weeks and my mom passed away 9 days after. She never got to see the girls and all I had was a suitcase of my mom’s clothes. Mourning was not an option for me at the moment, I had to be strong for the girls who were fighting for their lives every day. I always say that my mom gave her heart for my girls. NICU was a real rollercoaster, every day carried a different load but at the same time, every day spent at the NICU was a day closer for taking my girls home.

After 70 days, the girls finally went home. One of them with oxygen for about 2 more months.

Now they are healthy, strong 4 year olds. We have been very blessed and sharing my story is y way of paying forward all the wonderful things that have happened to us.
