Cruz Rodriguez is my surviving twin born at 23 weeks and 0 days. He spent 294 days in the NICU. He's my tiny miracle. He's been home for a year now. :)

Dear NICU baby,

You are strong.
You are loved.

You don’t deserve this place.
I’m sorry you are here.
I don’t understand why either.
I would take your spot.
I wish I could take the pain away.
I’m drowning, I can barely breathe.

It will be scary for us both.
There will be hard days.
There will be long days.
I might have more fears than I should.
I might cry a lot.
I might feel like I have failed you.
God has to have a purpose, right?

I promise to pray for you daily.
I promise to read to you daily.
I promise to try to hold you daily.
I will remember to praise the good things of the day.
For that’s all I can do.

One day we will know.
You were born into this world for a purpose.
