Finding the perfect gift for a loved one or friend can often be a daunting task. Buying for kids or family can be especially daunting and surviving the holidays becomes almost impossible. Gift ideas are plentiful and when looking for gifts to get for that special person, most people opt for the cookie cutter gifts that every other person is buying. But, to truly stand out with a loved one or that special friend, picking a special unique gift the person will truly remember the gift giver for goes a long way for the recipient.

To pick a unique gift for a special person, whether it is for a birthday, Christmas or any other special occasion, it is important for the gift giver to consider what special interests the gift receiver has. For the gift to be unique and to be remembered, having it appeal to a hobby of the individual often works as a very unique and memorable gift. To accomplish this, the gift giver must know what the recipient’s passions in life are. Following are some great gift ideas based on passions and hobbies that the recipient might have.

If the recipient is an art collector, there are many great ideas that are unique and memorable. A great idea for a person that is passionate about art is a book about art. A great start here is the book “Art: A Visual History” by Robert Cumming. This book takes the reader on a journey through all of the major eras of art history and showcases many of the great pieces that give art a rich history. Another idea for an art collector would be famous portrait paintings, such as the ones offered by M.S. Rau Antiques. The array of fine art offered at M.S. Rau Antiques are high-quality, one-of-a-kind pieces that are a sure way to impress any recipient.

If a recipient is a history-buff, many great unique gift ideas also exist. If the gift giver is looking at a birthday gift, a “Day You Were Born” newspaper can be purchased online and the company that sells these newspapers sells originally printed editions of a national newspaper from the day the recipient was born. This unique gift gives the recipient the chance to look back on what was national news on the day of their birth. Other great ideas out there for history buffs are socks with a former president’s caricature on them or a historically themed coffee mug from the era that the special person treasures the most.

Should the recipient be a science lover, there are many unique gifts that the person would treasure. For the chemistry nut, a gift giver can get their special person a periodic table themed cutting board or an Erlenmeyer flask themed coffee mug. Laboratory themed shot glasses would also come in handy and be memorable for the recipient. For the astronomy, a stargazer’s watch projects the Big and Little Dipper constellations onto the face of an illuminated watch. Last, for the amateur scientist at heart, many chemistry sets and microscopes are available from entry level priced sets to quality high priced items.

These are just a few examples of customizing a unique gift for the special friend or loved one in a person’s life. The key to getting a memorable gift is to customize it to the person and hopefully match one of their true passions in life.
