My daughter was born 9 weeks premature due to my health. I had pre-clampsia and the HELLP syndrome. The only resolution was to deliver her. I understood this when they explained it but it was like a punch to my gut when I was discharged and I had to leave my baby at the NICU and go home. I would wake myself up in the night every two hours to attempt to pump and bring the milk into the NICU for her. As most people know your thoughts tend to wander the most during those evening hours and during this time I would be wondering what my precious girl was doing and if she was eating while I was trying to provide her with more nutrition as well. Everything worked out and after a month and a half I was able to bring her home. It made everything feel more complete when that day arrived.
