Treatment for an ovarian cyst
There are many treatments to shrink or remove the cyst:
Birth control pills Doctors might suggest oral contraceptives to stop ovulation and prevent recurring new cysts. Oral contraceptives reduce the risk of ovarian cancer.
Laparoscopy If your cyst is small, doctor can perform a laparoscopy to remove the cyst. It is a surgical procedure involves inserting a fiber-optic instrument into your abdomen to view and remove the cyst.
Laparotomy If you have a large cyst, doctors will conduct surgical incision into the abdominal cavity, for diagnosis or in preparation for major surgery.
Cystectomy A surgical procedure to remove a cyst (fluid-filled sac) from your ovary. Ovarian Cysts are often no signs or symptoms, but it can sometimes cause pain and bleeding. Persistent or symptomatic cysts larger than 3–4cm may require surgery.
