Daniel Scott
Dan Scott has been working with kids for over 20 years as a teacher, pastor and communicator. He is passionate about engaging the hard-to-reach preteen age group.
This passion led him to write the new book, "Caught in Between: Engage Your Preteens Before They Check Out" (Orange Books, April 2018), which offers the latest research findings on preteens, sums up conversations every ministry leader is having about preteen ministry, and walks readers through a comprehensive plan to engage preteens in ways that will ensure they have what they need to build an authentic faith.
Trained in elementary and middle school education, Scott taught sixth grade English and Bible. He developed his own curriculum on the life of Jesus, eventually leading him to seminary to study theology and Christian education with the goal of developing relevant church curriculum for children and youth.
Now, Scott is the Elementary Curriculum Director at Orange, a nonfiction publisher with the goal of helping churches influence those who influence the spiritual growth of the next generation. Through his role as director he oversees the curriculum at 252Kids, a children's ministry curriculum created to engage kids, partner with parents and equip volunteers, as well the preteen program, 252Preteen.
Additionally, he is also the author of "A Storyteller’s Manifesto" (2017), which shows readers how to lay the groundwork for understanding the untapped potential in every human being to leverage the power of story to connect others with "God, Stand Up: Get in the Story" (2015), an eight-week, interactive journal that helps kids understand what God says about conviction, and "Over the Fence: Adventures in Friendship" (2014), a blend of chapter book and devotionals for elementary-age kids.
Scott is a sought-after speaker for youth camps and conferences. He has spoken at Orange Conference, KidMin Conference and more, and been featured in Outreach Magazine, ChurchLeaders.com, KidzMatter and others.
He received his degrees from Cedarville University and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. Previously, Scott served as the elementary children’s director at Ada Bible Church in Ada, Michigan. In his free time, he enjoys traveling around the world coaching children’s ministry leaders and speaking to kids and students. Scott and his wife, Jenna, live outside of Atlanta, Georgia with their four kids, Liam, Elli, Addi and Taye. For more information, please visit www.caughtinbetweenbook.com.
