Motherhood is underappreciated, undervalued, and often misunderstood. Stay-at-home mothers generally have great difficulty explaining what it is that we mothers do at home with our children. The reason for this great difficulty is that so much of what our society cherishes has nothing or little to do with our humanity. Motherhood is about nurturing the humanity that exists potentially in all human beings. Young children deserve to receive the nurturing that will help them to express their greatest potential as humane beings.
