Levinia St. Jean
My name is Levinia and I am an Air Force officer who just came back to America from overseas. I created this site as a way to share my adventures, both travel and culinary. I believe – without a doubt – that I was destined to travel and cook, and I have been fortunate enough to do both. I come from an American-Filipino household that cultivated my interest in cooking and travel. My mother is the daughter and sister of a chef and with my father being in the military, it meant we got to travel a lot. My husband, Andrew, is a New Englander which has given me a fantastic excuse to flex my culinary muscles to incorporate dishes he would love into my recipe collection. New England Clam Bake, anyone?
Having spent most of my life overseas, I had the opportunity to experience many different types of food. My parents encouraged me to try sushi and balut (a Filipino delicacy- a developing bird embryo that is boiled and eaten from the shell) as a child. While I didn’t like either at the time, this made me open to the idea of new foods. Unfortunately, moving around and traveling meant that if I fell in love with a dish I had in a restaurant, the likelihood I’d ever come across that particular dish made that specific way again was pretty nonexistent. But I had a solution: I could try to recreate these dishes and I have dedicated many hours doing just that. Through the encouragement of my supportive friends and family, I have decided to share these recipes and my travel adventures!
