​I recall mostly that it is a LOT of work.  Babies always come first and they will let you know that.  So what if there are dishes in the sink, you want a shower or long bath -- not going to happen.  They require a lot of "hands on" care.  Changing diapers, feeding, bathing and very important cuddling.  You will still need to feed the troops do your own laundry but you know what -- dust can be decorative.  Baby needs to be FIRST -- cuddle and talk to them LOTS.  They are only small for such a short time - dust is forever.  Dinner time - uh - seems like they can be sound asleep - you put dinner on the table - have to wake up now. LOL -- We kept a baby seat right on our kitchen table so that they could be with us when they woke up while we was eating.  I think the sheer smell of food wakes the little darlings up whether they are breastfed or beginning solids.  I may have "spoiled" my children but they both, now, are college graduate professional people.  I didn't do everything right but they survived.  Read all the baby books you want but keep in mind there is not one right way.  Go with the flow.  Enjoy even the crying crabby times -- before you know it that time is gone.
