I would consider myself a very busy entrepreneur with a full plate. I run a performance-based marketing agency and an influencer marketing agency, along with owning a brand that manufactures teeth whitening kits. I also have my hands in several start-up ventures.

It wasn’t until recently that I started to prioritize my health and fitness. Most entrepreneurs live such busy lives that they are constantly eating on the go and selecting convenience and speed over health when it comes to their diet. This results in fueling the body with the wrong foods.
In order to help busy entrepreneurs and business owners get on track, I spoke with ten individuals and asked them to suggest a high-energy food that helps to power them through their day. Use these suggestions, and start to pay more attention to what you are putting into your body. The right foods will help improve your productivity.

1. Almonds

“Get some mini plastic sandwich bags and fill them each with a dozen almonds and keep them on hand for a mid-day snack. It’s a much healthier option than a candy bar or something from a vending machine or convenience store. Almonds provide you with a healthy fat that helps to curb cravings. Keep a few packs at your desk and use them when you fee a craving coming on.”

2. Dark Chocolate

“You don’t have to avoid candy, like many would assume. If you have a sweet tooth, consider keeping some small dark chocolate pieces at your desk. It’s packed with antioxidants, and is a compliments mixed nuts to create a perfect snack. Remember to look for high quality dark chocolate with the least amount of additives and sugar.”
Scott Grossman of The Grossman Law Firm

3. Steel-Cut Oats

“Oatmeal is a great food to kick-start your morning. It is a food that will help you start your day full of energy. You should avoid the flavored quick-oats, as those are full of sugars. Go for steel-cut oaks. They are a good source of B vitamins and vitamin E, which act as antioxidants and they are also a great source of calcium, iron, protein and potassium.”

4. Greek Vanilla Yogurt

“A lot of yogurt is filled with sugars and corn syrup, and that’s not a great snack option. Plain vanilla Greek yogurt is a healthy alternative because it’s full of protein, which your body needs to make it through the day. If you want to spice it up a bit, add some fresh berries as a topping.”
Ken McDonald, Chief Growth Officer of TeamSnap

5. Chicken Breast

“To maintain a high-energy level all day you must consume protein, and there isn’t an easier option than chicken breast. Stay away from fried chicken and drowning it in sauces and cheese. Instead, opt for grilled chicken breast with some veggies. You can grill a week’s worth of chicken breast in advance, making it more convenient to bring a healthy lunch to the office every day.”
David Sessford of Ready Steady Sell

6. Blueberries

“Blueberries are full of powerful antioxidants and they also help to lower blood pressure and improve memory functions. Keep a package of them in the office refrigerator and grab a handful of them whenever you are hungry and need an energy boost. They are also very high in fiber and considered to be a healthy carbohydrate.”

7. Egg Whites

“Egg whites are a great source of protein, which is important to consume throughout the day. You can have them for breakfast, like many people do, but they also make for a great protein to eat later in the day as well. Many health experts suggest eating several smaller meals throughout the day, and egg whites are always a good option.”
Marc Yonker, Managing Partner of Winters & Yonker

8. Salmon

“Eating fish has many benefits, such as omega 3 fatty acid, which is one of the main reasons health experts suggest having several servings of fish weekly. It’s also a great source of protein, which is responsible for fueling your energy. Eating fish in the office isn’t always ideal, so it’s a great choice when you have lunch meetings or dine out as a team.”
Eric Ritter, Founder & CEO of Digital Neighbor

9. Kale Chips

“Salads are a great source of greens, but you can also consume greens when snacking. Kale chips are a great alternative to regular chips, as you eliminate the unhealthy fat. If chips aren’t your thing, you can also get your Kale fix through smoothies or salads.”
Jeremy Skillings, President and Founder of You Can Be Found

10. Young Thai Coconuts

“This is a great energy go-to as a food and drinks. The water inside a young Thai coconut is full of electrolytes and it’s rich in potassium. It also has strong antiviral properties. Instead of an unhealthy energy drink that is full of sugar, try drinking the water from a young Thai coconut. It’s a much healthier alternative.”
Stefanie Valenzano, Marketing Director of Oakland Spine & Physical Therapy
