- We were in our 20s. What’s better than that??
- Justin cowboy boots, shoe-boots, leather Keds, Levi’s, cut-off shorts, Big John’s, scrunchies, banana clips, bike shorts, baby doll dresses, crop-tops, Sergio Tacchini Sweatsuits…
- A great Wednesday night was watching 90210 and Melrose Place.
- We could call and “hang-up” on a guy just to see if he was home. He would have no idea who it was (or would he?)
- Our idea of dressing sexy was a tight pair of jeans with a black scoop-neck bodysuit, a la Mariah Carey.
- A great Thursday night was watching “Must-See TV” – Friends, Mad About You, Seinfeld, and Will & Grace.
- No Social Media – we could do what we wanted and it was never recorded for the world to see.
- Coming home and checking your answering machine to see if that cute guy called.
- Asking your hairstylist to give you the “Rachel”.
- Going to a club and dancing to “Ice, Ice Baby”, “Can’t Touch This”, and “Groove is in the Heart”.
- Waking up the next morning and watching Saved By the Bell.
- Eating an entire box of fat-free cookies and believing it was OK because they were fat-free.
- No cell phones – we could go where we wanted without anyone tracking us down.
- Need a new shirt? Run into any of the millions of Gap stores on every corner and in every mall.
- Standing on line to get into a club with no jacket in the middle of February – weren’t we freezing?
- Wearing very high-rise swimsuits in fluorescent colors to the beach.
- Pulling our hair back and leaving face-framing tendrils.
- We met guys in bars and clubs, not on Tinder and Match.
- Our break-ups were “clean.” There was no stalking on Facebook to see what he was doing or who he was doing it with. What’s done was done.
- Crying to love songs by Celine Dion and Whitney Houston.
- Having no fear – we were still naive and somewhat innocent.
