My name is Leanna Martinez, I am a mother to two beautiful daughters, Kenia5 and Ariana 12. Kenia was born March 12, 2015 at 2:41 a.m. at only 23.5 weeks gestation and weighing in at 12.1 ounces. I had to deliver her due to Pre-Eclampsia and severe HELLP syndrome. After delivery our family was told she had a 5% chance of survival. Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital NICU was wonderful. We had our ups and downs, many negative comments about how she could be on oxygen forever, she may have severe delays......the list went on from outsiders and those we came in contact with. I knew my God was capable of helping her and I never ceased praying for this tiny miracle. Kenia was only on oxygen for 3 months after we were home. We spent exactly 18 weeks in the NICU. Kenia Now wears glasses and pretty nearsighted but her amazing eye doctor said that if she were of legal driving age she would have no problems!! Kenia is still physically tiny and on the petite side and that's ok, she is blessed to be here! God has truly blessed us with both our girls. We had 4 miscarriages while trying to have children so both my oldest and Kenia are very special to us. Thank you for allowing me to share her story! May God Bless you all!
