Our Families Favorite Cheap Family Activities
#1 Chalk Bomb fights
So there are these amazing little hacky sacs filled with different colored chalk. Did you know that? You can get yours here, they aren’t very expensive and you get hours and days of enjoyment out of them.
So, what we do is team up. And then we throw chalk balls at each other! The more hits the better and really it doesn’t matter who wins….we never end up with a winner. The win is the game.
#2 Oldie but Goodie
Making smores over a camp fire! We make a fire in our backyard or at the river and roast our own marshmallows. We have Hershey’s chocolate and graham crackers because the kids love it, whether they eat them or not….they love to make them.
#3 Corn Hole Game
We pretty much keep the corn hole game set up all summer, so the boys can practice of course. Now, chalk wars might not have to have a winner but Corn hole always does. You have two on each team so we have tournaments. This game keeps the fun going for several hours in the evening. We actually have ours set up on our back porch, which is great when we have visitors too!
#4 Going to the Creek, River or Lake…to the beach we go!
Now I know this isn’t a possibility for everyone, but we are truly blessed to live near two rivers and multiple creeks. So, we take advantage of the situation. Often we will head to the river beach as soon as we get off work to cool of, our bodies and some steam. The boys love to grill hot dogs by the river on these days too. Truly fun for the whole family.
#5 Hide and Seek in the dark…with Rules of Course
To be totally honest our neighbors taught us this one! And our kids absolutely love this game. It makes for great family fun and memories that will last a lifetime. We also do variations. Sometimes we play outside in the yard and sometimes we play inside. We might make rules like no running and once you get back on the steps you are safe. Last, one in loses. You can make it your own.
In any event…family fun event that is.
This activities might not be new to you, but maybe you hadn’t thought of them for awhile. I hope you can use one or all to make some inexpensive memories (cheap activities) with your family and kids.
Here is to summer time fun!
