Put them out on YouTube or ; you might just be the next big thing. Imagine having your recipe in there somewhere.

Enter the summer holidays, and it’s a grand challenge, again. The struggle is real. The tough, however, get going when the going gets tough. Here are five great summer holiday activities that stay-at-home moms can try out:

1 - Do The One Thing You’ve Always Wanted

Summer holidays give you the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with your kids. If you do the math, we get roughly 18 summers with our children before they’re out of the house. And we’re not even counting their teen years when they don’t want to hang out with us.

  • Plan some memorable activities for the summer months, like a day-camp or a road trip
  • Try learning something new this summer
  • Sign up for pottery or painting classes
  • Join a book club
  • Learn a new instrument

2- Plan a Picnic

The long summer days often seem to be dragging on forever, but they’re gone before you know it. Make the most of the glorious weather while it lasts. Pack a basket of home cooked food, carry a blanket and drive your kids to the nearby park for a picnic. You can even organize a small barbeque in your backyard with your friends and extended family. These get-togethers provide a perfect opportunity for connecting with the extended family. The kids can play around with their peers while you get to catch up with your loved ones.

3- Try New Recipes

Summer holidays for all their fun and frolic can get pretty exhausting. Sure, the kids get a break from school, but your responsibilities increase tenfold. With the children being home the entire day, it is your responsibility to keep them entertained. And as you cannot take your kids out every day, you have to think of other interesting activities to keep them preoccupied indoors.

A good way to beat the heat would be to try out new summer recipes like popsicles, tarts, pies, fruit juices, salads etc. with your little ones. Put them out on YouTube or Instructables; you might just be the next big thing. Imagine having your recipe in there somewhere.

4- Be a Stay-at-Home Entrepreneur

Stay-at-home moms are no longer confined to their household chores. They are perfectly capable of taking care of the house and earning money as well. The modern-day homemakers are independent, empowered entrepreneurs, bloggers, and freelancers.

The more creative moms can design their own digital magazines and sell them online on platforms like Flipsnack. You can write about anything from recipes to beauty hacks and home remedies, and they look great, here’s an example.

Publish your articles, monetize the content, connect with readers from across the world in a single click. That’s the power of the internet!

5- Continue Educating the Kids

Who said summer-time activities cannot be educational? We’re not asking you to force them to do their lessons every day (although that’s important as well). Buy coloring books, puzzles, and story books for the kids. Also, take out some time for bedtime reading This way you not only get some quiet time for yourself but also encourage the kids to read good books.

The Bottom Line

It is not easy being a homemaker, but hey, we’re not complaining! Summer holidays, for instance, can be really fun. The sun stays out longer, there’s more flexibility in your schedule and you can actually manage to drink your coffee without scalding your tongue. So, slather on some sunscreen, grab your shades. Summer is here, in more ways than one!
