Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays for crafting with the kids. Maybe it's because I've got that loving feeling or because everything is pretty and pink but whatever it is, we always get a lot done leading up to February 14!
But we don't just make traditional Valentines, we love to make tons of other cute little crafts for Valentine's Day.
Here's a few of our favorite Valentine's Day Crafts that aren't cards:
Valentine's Paper Plate Shakers
These are perfect for the preschool crowd who loves to not only create but also make noise. Created with two paper plates; some clear plastic wrap; whatever extra beads, jewels and bits you have around the house, these little beauties will provide hours of entertainment.
Yarn Wrapped Hearts
These are another great craft for little hands but also tons of fun for the older crowd (I even love making them!) Simply wrap multi-colored yarn around a cardboard heart cutout or use plastic canvas for even easier wrapping.
Tissue Paper Suncatchers
All you need for this one is some construction paper, clear contact paper and tissue paper. Cut a heart frame out of the construction paper and a heart the same size from the contact paper and attach to the frame. Tear or cut the tissue paper into small pieces and kids can apply the pieces all over the contact paper. Hang in a window and watch the light pour through!
Yarn Heart Garland
This one is best for older kids but is as simple as creating a homemade glue mixture (instructions here), dipping the yarn in and then laying in heart-shaped cookie cutters until dry. Then hang on a ribbon.
Lovebugs
These cute little buggers are made from two paper hearts for the wings, a paper wrapped toilet paper roll, pipe cleaner antennae and a few google eyes!
Heart Shaped animal Masks
Grab the printable template for these adorable heart animal masks here. Simply cut out, assemble, attach a ribbon and you've got yourself a cute little Valentine's bunny or elephant!
Of course, if you're interested in Valentine card ideas, I've got that covered, too! Check out my three different ribbon Valentine's cards and my Hand Sewn Valentine's (with free printable pattern). And don't miss my treats and recipes for the perfect Valentine's get together!
