For mamas sending babies off to Kindergarten this year, I want to hug your necks, calm your fears, pass the tissues and let you in on a little secret.
Better awaits.
Actually, I want my son to share the best encouragement I have on this crazy, quick milestone you’re facing:
“I can’t wait for first grade.”
Today, it hit me that summer is almost up, and in less than three weeks, we’ll be back in the school drop-off line, this time with my oldest headed to first grade and second going into Kindergarten.
And I’m still having all the emotions.
But then he says, “Mom, I can’t wait for first grade.”
The enthusiasm. The confidence from the same sensitive, soft-spoken soul I was concerned could get eaten up back in Kindergarten.
But you know what, he walked into his classroom that very first day, and I watched him answer his very first grade school question like a boss.
And I surely (secretly) wept in gratitude for prayers answered and with pride for the transformation I knew was in the works.
And now he’s ready to go back. He’s ready to face the changes and the new challenges and enjoy. And you know what, I’m going to be ready, too.
Because this life is a journey, friends.
Lots of prayers, tissues and trust that the best is yet to come.
