I always hated Senior Superlatives.

Best Dressed.

Class Clown.

Most Dependable.

Most Attractive.

And my least favorite of all...Most Likely to Succeed.

Want to make a bunch of fragile teenagers feel even worse about themselves? Point out the fact that they aren't as likely to make it as everyone else.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those people who believes everyone should get a trophy. And I get that it's a tradition and all in good fun.

But I do believe we should be more encouraging of our youth.

I believe that everyone has something to bring to the table; a personality trait, a hidden talent, a characteristic that makes them uniquely special. And all of those things should be celebrated as well.

At the end of the day, those superlatives don't matter.

The class airhead now makes more money than the Valedictorian.

The most attractive was bit hard by the aging bug, and traded in that 6 pack of abs for a 6 pack of Bud Light.

The class clown got serious and now mentors young kids, a job that has to be taken very seriously.

And the one most likely to succeed, hasn't been very successful afterall.

Those accolades mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.

We alone determine our success story, not a page in a yearbook that you won't even be able to find in the next 10 years.

No one will ever again care about your high school glory days, or lack-there-of.

But people will take notice of where you are in the future, so make it count.
