April is International Cesarean Awareness Month.

She births bravely

Laying still

In the cold operating room

Naked and numb

But feeling the weight of it all

Her mind races

She waits

For any indication

That her baby has been born

That her baby is okay

At last, she can breathe

She birthed bravely

Brave is she

This poem is in honor of International Cesarean Awareness Month (April). It is dedicated to all mothers who birth via Cesarean, especially during times of crisis, including the current COVID-19 pandemic; and to my two sons whom I birthed via C-section and who made me a mom.
