The egg is released via an opening in the ovarian follicle. By the end of the menstruation period what happen is that the pregnancy period beings. During this time, if the female involves in sexual intercourse and a sperm makes its way into the female body and attaches to the egg, the fertilization process begins. The fertilized egg then takes approximately twelve days to implant itself in the uterus. The pregnancy period is stimulated by hormones that are present and produced by the brain.
