Having search engines around us is a pure bliss. They come in handy in basically any aspect in your life, including parenting.
Google is Everything
Yup, that’s what I do, I just Google everything I don’t know or understand and the mighty Google does all the job for me.
Unfortunately it could not make my son sleep quietly without waking up and being louder than a machine gun, but I found a great amount of tips there.
It is true, first year was a mess and a nightmare, but my wife and I learned how to use technology to help us. We even learned how to collaborate to search and find answers faster, thus quickly solving a problem.
It is so simple! When Jamie was suffering from diaper allergy, I went to the store, while Mary was googling it. Problem was solved in a matter of minutes.
I went further and already know, what are the best elementary schools in Ohio, what musical instrument is the best for kids to learn to play in middle school, etc.
Ask Your Mother
Yet, it is not only the search engines that are used to google things. Great helpers are my and Mary’s parents. I am often stunned by the way they can predict issue we might be having.
There was a time, when we were visiting them and they gave us some baby food. We had already bought some by then, so we didn’t use their gift. A funny thing that Jamie was didn’t eat ours, but was fond of grandparents’. It is a still a mystery for me, how they knew, that our son would love carrot-flavored food that much.
Yet we understand, that when our son grows up, things would be much harder to control. He is already learning how to use a computer, and I believe that in a year or so he will get his first mobile phone.
Amount of problems, that would not solve themselves, will be constantly increasing. New measures will need to be provided concerning online safety, people who he contacts with, etc. And even though I already know how can I track my kids iphone, and how to generally aware of how to deal with those future problems, I still fear that the days when everything won’t be that easy, are knocking on my front door.
Still, I’m sure we’ll figure something out!
My point is, that a great way to reduce stress is not to be afraid to ask people who know better about your issues and problems. Humans have been parents for millenniums, and they already figured out what and how should be done.
Older people know more than you, specialists know more than you, hell, sometimes even random people know more than you. But it is not something to be upset about. Be glad that there are people who you can ask for an advice.
Use the opportunities to make your lives better, folks!
