Over the years I have had the privilege of training thousands of dogs and having the opportunity to work their owners. I was a straight A student throughout high school and was a member of The National Honor Society. As a teenager, I couldn't wait to go to college; however I did not know what I wanted to do. I always loved animals and knew that I would to work with them - I just wasn't sure in what capacity.

The summer before college I began looking for a job to help me pay for things that I would need for school. My parents had other several other kids besides myself and had only 1 income to support our family. The encouraged me to apply for as many scholarships and grants that I could because it was money that I would not need to pay back. I did, and fortunately I did receive several scholarships and grants for my academics. And oddly enough that decision ended up changing the course of my future. My Aunt had just had one of her dogs trained and that the dog trainer was looking for some part-time help around his cabin. I went there (not expecting to get the job since I had zero experience) and spoke with the guy about a few things dog and I honestly said I had no experience but that I would love to learn.

I got the job and I started that following week. Little by little, he taught me everything that I needed to know. He was such a great teacher that he always reminded me to learn from his mistakes and to do better than him. I ended up apprenticing under him for several years and then I went on my own. I offered dog training to towns all over the Chicagoland area and have been incredibly successful doing what I love.

Which is why I would love to be able to help another person out with their schooling. Even though I ended up taking a different route other than college, I know that many people pursue their dreams by attending college first. Students can find out more about our scholarship opportunity by visiting our scholarship page at Midway Dog Academy.

If you have a high schooler entering college this upcoming Fall or if your child is already a college student and is looking for outside scholarship opportunities then please send them this information.

Thank you for the opportunity to help someone else find and follow their passion.
