On Sunday October 29th, the annual Skechers Friendship Walk presented by Nickelodeon occurred in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. Sugar Ray Leonard gave a pre-walk pep talk to participants, and other celebrities were on hand to create a positive and inspiring beginning to the 3.5 mile walk. Over 1400 walkers gathered on the Manhattan Beach Pier to support education for special needs children.
The SKECHERS Foundation was founded in 2010 by the Greenberg Family. It was created to help empower communities to invest in children, specifically around education. The financial and deliberate investment in organizations dedicated to embracing individuals with special needs, improving education, and empowering youth is inspiring.
The annual SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk is an exciting event that hosts families and organizations whose mission is to make the lives of special needs children better. The walk is produced by SKECHERS USA and co-produced by The Friendship Foundation. The annual walk raised over 1.8 million dollars for schools in the South Bay area.
