My Husband has always been an amazing Father. Despite long hours and many days away from our family during his military career Kevin was always super Dad. I can only imagine how exhausted he was when he walked in the door and his first priority was to get right to building tracks for Thomas the Tank Engine and in minutes Jackson and Kevin were on the Island of Sodor.
A year ago our family took a leap of faith. My Husband finished his career in the US Coast Guard and transitioned to his new position as a stay at home Dad. As my Husband transferred from serving our Country to doing diaper duty I relaunched my career after three years of being with our children. It was the hardest decision we have made in our marriage and after a year of many changes we have grown closer as a family.
The way my Husband moved into his new role made him an ever bigger Hero in my eyes. Defrosting breast milk, blow out diapers with no one to call for back up, the overnight fever watch... he was all over it. It took me a while to let go of some of my responsibilities and me being a control freak could not have made Kevin's transition very easy.
Kevin's best skill... playing! From hockey to baseball Kevin and our sons are always on the move. Watching my Husband play with our boys brings me so much joy. Sometimes I think there is a five year old still trapped inside Kevin.
To my Husband: Love You Always. Thank you for being my Hero.
