Whether you are a seasoned artist or a crafting newbie the ladies at the Idaho Scrapbook Show have got you covered this spring. They have come up with several ways to get your garden started indoors this year, with the added benefit of getting your kids involved in the fun!

Plus, Sandy Escalante owner of The Big Red Barn, a farm based preschool says, "When kids are involved with vegetables at every stage from seed to table they are more likely to want to eat them."

That sounds like a win-win!

BEGINNER: For those who don't consider themselves crafty at all, you might not be ready to jump head first into your local craft store just yet. All you need is pre-made chalk stickers! They are cute, decorative, will stick to any container you'd like. You can use regular chalk or chalk markers (used here).

INTERMEDIATE: This level you may want to be crafty but don't quite know where to start. You want all of the cute things you see on Pinterest, but don't want to buy all of the supplies it requires to make that one item. This is where pre-made wood signs come in handy! Local craft stores have them in stick form, attached to clothes pins and as tags...you name it! Attach to your favorite pot or seedlings for a cute design indoors then you can transfer them to your garden when the seedlings are ready!

ADVANCED: Some of you might be wanting to up your game or venture out and make something that you've seen for yourself. Painting your own pots or popsicle sticks with chalk paint is a great way to do that. Not only are you creating something from scratch, but with chalk paints and markers you can erase it at the end of the season and already have your cute painted pot ready to go for next year. Talk about bang for your buck!

When selecting chalk paint, check the directions to make sure it says, "No Prep". Some chalk paints require a primer layer before applying the chalk layer.

If you let your kids write on the pots or tags in chalk and want to keep their handwriting forever, your local hardware store has clear sealant spray that you can use on the pots so the chalk won't smear and you can save their handwriting forever.
