After 188 days, since the last day of school and 188 days of not needing to make four lunches, the girls are all off to high school together... all four of them, together, in high school... I may need a few moments for that to sink in.
But for now, I’ll sip my morning cup of tea and reflect on the memories of my baby girls and hold on for a bit longer...
The simple things...
the sweet smell of baby soap and breast milk burped in my face
terry cloth feety jammies
Lullabies night after night
Giggles down the hallway...
Being asked to rest before bed never knowing when the last time will be
Kisses of drool
Giggles down the hallway...
Tears for the first lost tooth
Pinky promises
The clomping of plastic heels echoing through the house
Giggles down the hallway...
Sweet little voices & screaming voices
Boo boo kisses
hands locked in mine
Hearing an echo of a sweet voice whispering mama
Giggles down the hallway...
Even as the days move forward and the hustle in the kitchen getting ready for school takes over,
the quick hug and kiss while grabbing the lunch I made and “bye mom” begins a new day, may the giggles always be a familiar sound.
May the car full of girls, my precious girls,
On their way to school be filled with giggles.
Giggles amongst these four beautiful sisters growing along side of each other...
And may there always be giggles down the hallway...
P.S. I missed making lunches...
