This also includes being contacted whenever a problem arises concerning your child. In some instances, parents may not be in a position to speak English. This should not stop you from getting to know what goes on at school. Instead, you can get an interpreter from the school, or rather bring a relative or friend who can help with communication. In addition to the teachers, there are also other people in the school who work to make your child grow emotionally, socially and even navigate the environment around him or her. Parents also need to keen interests of the staff and administrators. If you hold high aspirations for any of your child, he or she will definitely do well in school. This means that you have to let them know that you believe they have potential and also letting them know that that will succeed. This in turn will help in building the child’s confidence, setting high expectations and also achieve the best results in school. This can be done better by doing the following:
• Ensuring your child is aware that you totally believe in their abilities and potential.
• Making the child know that it is of great importance for them to perform well in school.
• Have a conversation with your child often asking them about their future plans and dreams.
• Always ask what they learnt and what was interesting at school, read book reports with them, or help them write their essays.

4. Set, negotiate and enforce rules as an act of loving and good parents
Discipline is one thing that is inevitable and is the work of any good and caring parent. This will however be dependent on the personality and age of the child. Privilege withdrawal could be effective for teenagers while time- outs could work well for younger children. Cutting computer and TV time is also a famous strategy that they do not give even when their teenagers make a fuss and complain. Accountability is demanded in such a case. Parents can impart discipline by modeling it themselves, and also through conversation and questioning. This is where role modelling comes into place. Children will be moral and live in a good way if their parents do so because children mostly follow what their parents do. Older children can have a discussion with their parents on what is wrong or right and make them face consequences for bad behavior.

5. Supporting your child academically
It is prudent for a parent to find out from the teacher how their child is doing compared to the rest of the students in class. If in any case he or she is not keeping up, find out about what should be done with immediate effect. If need be, you can apply for special services if the child experiences learning disability. This can be done with the help of the school and get extra help. This will at the same time play a key role in helping the child prepare for the test and attain a good grade at the end of it all.

6. When it comes to career choices, its very important to ensure that young people are presented with an opportunity to make confident decisions, not only about further studies, but also career paths. From the study conducted by TFE, we can see that that the IT sector and health care seems to be the most popular carer paths.

For any parent who wants to have their child succeed in life, it is upon them to make this come true. That is why you need to take the step of encouraging your child in every step of their education so that they can be the best.
