Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

At the (eventual) end of all this,

I will not have

learned a new language

completed any home remodeling.

become a better cook,

finally cleaned up (and out) my closet,

organized the tupperware cabinet,

started meditation,

lost weight,

or

started writing a book.

I will not have

organized the kids' closets,

sorted and cataloged their toys,

decluttered my entire home on a massive scale,

taken up a new hobby,

returned to an old one,

or

aligned all my chakras (whatever the heck those are).

But I will have

fulfilled a million requests,

done a trillion a dishes,

made at least 100 smoothies for the kids,

baked lots of cookies,

washed an ungodly amount of clothes,

relearned 3rd-grade math and Kindergarten phonics,

taught preschool,

cooked way more meals than I would have liked,

served more dino-nuggets and corn dogs than I care to admit,

watched Frozen at least 4-dozen times,

and

will have heard my name

called,

screamed,

yelled,

whined

and cried for,

more times than ever in my life.

And I, myself, WILL HAVE

cried,

laughed,

joked,

smiled,

complained,

worried,

yelled,

begged,

demanded,

apologized,

forgave,

hugged,

said "I'm sorry,"

and said, "I love you" -- a lot.

I WILL HAVE woke up every morning with hope in my heart,

speaking prayers to the Man above,

and giving each day everything I've got,

and you know what, I think that's enough.
