I tried on my wedding dress today.

It didn't fit.

I don't know why I thought it would.

I'm not the same person who wore it back on July 12th, 2008.

Don't get me wrong -- she was great.

But the me of today, she's even better.

Heavier too.

Saggier, for sure.

Aged and less fit, yes.

But she's also way more

confident,

purpose-filled,

open-minded,

and unworried about what other people think of her.

The most significant and most dramatic difference between 2008 me and 2020 me?

I'm a mama now.

A mama of three -- ages 9, 6, and 4.

And, if my new body, the one that carried, birthed and continues to raise those three incredible humans, refuses to fit in my old dress, I think I'll survive.

And I also think there's no reason for me not to gorge on some chicken wings tonight 'cause my sweatpants are a lot more comfortable than that itchy, corset-stitched-in white monstrosity anyway.
