Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

I'll never be the breadwinner, and he'll never be the butt wiper.

I'll never be the fun one, and he'll never not be the fun one.

I'll never be the joker, and he'll never be the one who dissects a joke to find a lesson within it.

I'll never be the one with timely wit, and he'll never not be the one who occasionally uses it on the wrong child, at the wrong time.

I'll never be the one they come to with questions about math, science, or geography [at least if they're looking for the correct answer], and he'll never be the one they come to with pleas for face-tracing or a song only mama knows.

He'll never be the one up their biscuits about manners and good behavior, and I'll never be the one that lets them get away with anything without a good 'ole chat about it.

He'll never be the middle of the night cuddler, and I'll never be the daytime wrestler.

But the kids need us both,

they want us both,
and they love us both to the moon and back.

So perhaps it's okay that we love our kids differently because maybe, just maybe, they'll grow up knowing that there's plenty of ways to love others and that the "right" way is any way that feels natural to you.
