I’m a Great Mom Because…
My 16 year old son still likes to:
- Bring friends over to our house and hang out
- Eat my food especially b/c it’s not soy free, gluten free, non GMO, organic vegan fare
- Watch bad reality tv with me late at night while eating Peanut M&M’s
- Hear me cheer when he shaves 3 seconds off his breastroke
- Play pool and foosball in our dining room (who needs to have a dinner party anyway)
- Have me buy his clothes without circling them in a catalogue first
- Play video games against his younger siblings and me
- Tell me way more details than I want to know about what actually goes on at parties
- Give me hugs when his friends are nowhere near
- Eat the chocolate chip cookie dough out of the bowl when I’m baking
- Pretend not to listen to my advice but then takes some of it in
- Walk the dog with me late at night
- Come on spring break with us and scuba dive
- Make fun of me and my inability to make anything tech related work
- See me in the stands in the 118 degree pool area during his water polo games
- Eat my grilled cheese sandwiches standing and chatting in the kitchen even when he says he has nothing to say
- Text me when he gets good news at school
- Tell me I know nothing about what he’s going through and then comes back 40 mins later to continue the conversation
When he was born, everyone said enjoy him now because boys leave their mothers. That hasn’t happened yet and that is what makes me feel like a great mom!!!
