Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

I’m afraid.

I’m afraid someone will be the cause of a tear rolling down your cheeks.

I’m afraid.

I’m afraid you will be oppressed in any way shape or form and won’t be able to stand up for yourself. Because people are cruel.

I’m afraid.

I’m afraid you won’t feel worthy for some ridiculous reason when I know for a fact you deserve the entity of this world in itself.

I’m afraid.

I’m afraid of what I may do if anyone tries to harm you, knowing I will stop at absolutely nothing.

I’m afraid.

I’m afraid of this world in itself my sweet children. I’m afraid it will engulf you.

I’m afraid you will be treated less than.
I’m afraid you will be categorized by your race.
I’m afraid you will be labeled by your religion.
I’m afraid you will be judged without being given a fair chance.
I’m afraid you will be oppressed alongside so many innocent people who are overlooked.
I’m afraid for my children in a world where being different will deem you inadequate.

I’m afraid for my children who are visible minorities- it will affect them; it’s inevitable.

I’m afraid.

I’m afraid to tell my children that this world is half cold and shallow.

It’s people are partly dark and bitter.

But all this I won’t tell you because I’m trying to sell you the world.

Trying to show you it will be wonderful as we grow together.

Although deep down, I want nothing other than to hold your hands for eternity.

Hold you tight where I can keep you safe.

I want to shield you from any possible harm even though I know I will not be around forever.

And that’s why I’m afraid, I’m afraid because this world is cold and it’s people are shallow.

I’m afraid.
