March is Women's History Month, and I am thinking of all the women in Ukraine. They are doing all they can to protect their children and preserve their future.
Grandmothers who have stared down Russian forces and told them to **** off.
Women who have given birth in bomb shelters or metro stations.
Baby girls born into a world of war.
I think of mothers fleeing with their children.
Hoping to find safe refuge and a meal to eat. They are praying for access to heat and clean water.
Many women are picking up a gun for the first time. Each does what she can to protect their families from the invading forces.
My prayers are with the women in the armed forces that stayed behind to fight while their loved ones evacuated.
Battling against tyranny while giving hope to the hopeless.
My heart aches for the first responders who have to live through the emotional and physical toll of war.
The aunts and best friends turned into parents. Handed a child and told, “Do what you can to keep them safe.”
In Ukraine, all women have become mothers.
