People don’t really talk about it all that much, but making good mom friends is kinda hard.

It’s not easy to find someone who can hold a somewhat coherent conversation with you while you take turns changing diapers, doing potty checks, picking up crumbs, kissing boo boos, wiping noses, and cleaning up toys.

It’s not easy to find someone who will bend the rules with you for the sake of some giggles and spontaneity and let the kids have what you decide to call a picnic on the kitchen floor.

It’s not easy to find someone who believes in her heart that you’re doing the best you can and making the best decisions possible for your kids and your family—even if they look different than hers.

It’s not easy to find someone who chooses to be kind and withhold judgement, who embraces the chaos with laughter and humility, and who holds space for you to be you, in a time where you might not even know who you are anymore.

It’s not easy to fine someone like this, but when you do, you’ll know you’ve struck gold.

Your time together won’t be pretty, fancy, or the least bit calm and relaxing, but it will be fun and fulfilling and most definitely worth it.
