Did you scroll past today's sobering covid statistics report because, well, you can't handle looking at those religiously depressing things anymore?
Me too.
Did you then read that article and all the covid articles anyway because it feels irresponsible to stay ill-informed?
Me too.
Do you still wear a mask indoors and sometimes outdoors and avoid large crowds because you've got unvaccinated kids and even besides that because vaccinated people can still catch and spread covid?
Me too.
Do you still have friends that don't?
Me too.
Do you still love, care and respect them?
Me too.
Do you still send your kids to school during a lingering, will-it-ever-go-away pandemic because kids need to be at their brick and mortar?
Me too.
Do your masked kids still participate in after-school enrichment programs and activities because the benefits of those kinds of programs are invaluable?
Mine too.
Do you turn on the news every night to see if anything has changed -- for better or worse?
Me too.
Do you turn off the news every night and instead binge Netflix because she's your new best friend?
Me too.
Do you worry if things will ever look, feel and be "normal" again?
Me too.
Do you think this is perhaps our forever new normal?
Me too.
Do you feel like this pandemic has led to you picking up some less than admirable habits like getting into the ice cream container and wine cooler more?
Me too.
Do you feel like this pandemic has forced you to engage in some introspection, leading to you adopt some healthy habits like making time for self-care, family care, and things like getting exercise?
Me too.
Have you gained weight during the pandemic?
Me too.
Have you lost weight during the pandemic?
Me too.
Have you lost track of months and years because March of 2020 on blends as a hazy memory?
Me too.
Do you worry every day if you are making all the right decisions?
Me too.
Do you try every day to be a better human than you were yesterday?
Me too.
Do you think the way to survive the pressure of this pandemic is by being kind --
to ourselves,
others,
healthcare heroes,
and everyday heroes?
Me too.
Me freakin' too.
Do you think if you can’t be kind you should, at minimum, at least not act like a jackalope?
Me too.
Me freakin’ too.
