Valentines..... a day to celebrate love. Not just love with our significant other.... but to show love to our children. My kids celebrated with snacks, crafts, and of course some learning was involved. Plus TONS of kisses and hugs from momma ... which I am sure was their favorite part of the day ;)

Food:

I kept the food really simple since it was during their snack time.

-Strawberries

-Heart glazed cake

-Candy heart popcorn

-Chocolate Hearts

-Red Apple Juice

Learning Activity

(All the learning activities use conversation heart candy)

Counting Heart Activity

This was by far his favorite activity!! He kept calling for his dad to come and watch him. I made sure to count the hearts with him as I pointed to the number, so he could make the connection.

The color activity was also a favorite! He was learning without even realizing it.

Pattern Learning Activity

This was a new skill for my son, so it was fun to actually work together and figure it out. I tried to make the patterns pretty simple starting out.

Name Learning Activity

Brooks is definitely not at the age to spell, but practicing his name is never a bad idea. With this activity, I had Brooks fill in the letters with hearts and eventually decorate his name with valentine sequins.

Crafts

Cut Out Heart

My kids have been addicted to glue. They just glued their hands together yesterday, and we were all really proud about it. With that being said, I started off with a very simple cut out heart. I found some pom poms, valentine sequins, and stickers for the kids to decorate their hearts.

Painted Wooden Hearts

If you know me, you know I LOVE to paint with them. I actually enjoy the beautiful mess that goes along with it. The kids painted some wooden hearts which I am going to use to decorate their chairs.

Valentine Goo

I remember making this a couple of years ago in my classroom. It was SUPER easy, and the kids couldn't stop playing with it!

Ingredients:

-Borax

-Water

-Red Glitter Glue

I mixed three 6 ounce bottles of glue in a bowl with 1 1/2 cups of warm water.

In another bowl, I mixed 3/4 teaspoons of borax with 1 1/4 cups of warm water.

When both bowls were mixed well, I mixed them together in one big bowl. It took me a while to mix it all together. Make sure you allow the water to mix well... or the goo will be mainly sticky.
