“What happens if a puppy gets lost in a fire?”
“What happens if you throw your ear on top of a tree?”
“What happens if your eye falls out?”
“What do regular people do?”
“What happens if a bee goes up our nose and gets trapped inside of us?”
“What happens if someone throws all of their cleaning supplies away?”
These were my four year old’s big life questions at dinner just a few nights ago.
I have to admit, sometimes we just long for a moment of silence. But, this very night, I realized all of the little things their brains are thinking about. My husband just let our little dude ask 100 questions a minute while we were trying to eat dinner. These are life-shaping questions for young and inquisitive minds.
What an opportunity we have to help mold and shape who they are, what they become, and how they treat other people.
Sure, we all need a little peace and quiet.
But, sometimes we need the reminder to just let them be. Let them ask the questions. Let them be crazy children who run up and down the hallways as they engage in pretend play.
These are the years we want them to cherish and remember forever.
