Today I

celebrate 43 years of life. And I can honestly say that I am living my best life.

I go to the store, and strangers smile at me. I get winks, nods, and “Oh! They are so cute!” comments about my children. People offer me help when one of the kids is having a meltdown, and other parents give me the nod that they can relate. My husband and I agree on how to discipline our children, how to manage our money, and how to keep an organized home. We try to do date night at least once every month, and I try to have a girl’s night once every two months. I am confident in my role as a teacher and as a parent.

I am living my best life.

When I was 20 something -I don’t remember relating to anyone older than I was. I was a bit self absorbed and only thought of the present. In this fourth decade of life - I see things with a clear head and eyes wide open. I don’t look at other moms and say I wish I was living their life.

I look at other moms and say -I get you. I feel you. I am you.
We are in this together. We are living our best life.

There are times I miss the innocence of the early years, but I don’t want go back in time. And I’m not counting down the moments until I turn a new decade. I am so completely satisfied with my current state.

I know I am living my best life.

There are still things that scare me. Will I raise my boys to be respectful and disciplined? Will I show them how to love their future spouse? Will I instill in them the confidence and courage to be themselves no matter what? Will I encourage them to always try their best? But I trust my gut. I have been doing this parenting gig for over 11 years and I know what I am doing.

I am living my best life.

I understand myself. I understand my role as a parent, teacher, friend, and lover. I know my place in the world.

I am living my best life.

And I’m ready for another amazing year.
