Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

I can’t remember the last time he asked me to come check on him at bedtime.

I only know he doesn’t ask me anymore.

I can’t remember the last time he was the first one downstairs in the morning.

Now, he sleeps as late as he can.

He’s learned to use his words we repeated over and over as a toddler.

I’m amazed by all the new things he’s teaching me.

He’s becoming the young man I’ve been praying for all along.

Yet, I can’t help but look back on his younger years and miss him.

And it makes me a little teary-eyed, because it really did go by so fast.

Mama, it’s okay to hold them a little longer.
Play dress-up and make believe.
Sing another lullaby at bedtime.
Snuggle up close when you have the chance.

Because those precious moments are some of the highlights of my life. Even with the sleepless nights and all the doing and all the messes, too.

I want to slow it all down and appreciate each moment, because we know we won’t get enough time.

And there’s just so much about them we want to remember.
