I have a big release of career related “stuff” coming out this week. It’s my rebranded and official statement saying- I’m back in the game- but in a new way.

I had lots of plans for what I was going to get done, today, in order to launch this labor of love, tomorrow.

And I have a sick kid.

That needs to stay home from school.

THIS is MOTHERHOOD on a Monday morning.

It is gaining and losing momentum 100 times a day as you bounce back and forth between everything you dream of and do for your kids and the heart that longs to make a space for yourself. It is knowing that the days are long the years are short and the moments where your kids need you in this way are fleeting and temporary. It’s the realization that when they are sick, the growing bodies that are beginning to resist your affection still let you hold them and snuggle a little longer- so as much as you are disappointed in not being able to get done what you had planned- you sit and hold onto their sweaty, snotty, mouth-breathing bodies like your life depends on it.

AND

It means giving yourself grace to give them more screen time than normal, or yourself less accountability than normal, because you are just doing your best to be a mother and a good human being on a Monday morning, when your plans are totally derailed.

Motherhood is the most wonderful, meaningful, challenging, humbling and inspiring thing I have ever been blessed to be a part of. It gives me more than I ever dreamed it would- and it also requires so much sacrifice.

Both can exist together. It’s okay so say that it’s both a privilege and some days so freaking overwhelming.

It doesn’t make you less of a mother- it makes you human. ❤️

So…. Today, I will do what I can. I will still work in my non-negotiables, and and at the end of the day, NOTHING matters without the people in this picture. I will fit the work in when I can, and even stretch the old lady bedtime if I need to 😜🤦🏻‍♀️.

Bottom line- I LOVE RAISING US.

I’m just going to focus on that, and trust that the rest will come as it’s supposed to.

God speed to all parents trying to make it work on a Monday morning. ❤️
