Raising three girls, running a business, and trying to nurture the spark in my marriage means that a lot of the time I feel like I fall short. When I ponder the idea of New Year's resolutions it's hard to even know where to start.
There is so much I can think of to change that it can seem futile to even try. Luckily three daughters don't leave much room for inaction. Their spirit and energy pull me into adventure and play, but more importantly their willingness to look past the times when one of us falls short gives me the courage to try again and again.
This morning Finley, my seven year old, declared she wanted to have a revolution. I giggled as she talked passionately about the ways she thinks, "all the world could switch to be happier." As we were outside in the tree fort celebrating the first snowfall of the season (yay!) I recorded her because sometimes it's best to hear things not from a celebrity or an expert, but a regular person who simply wants everyone to experience fun.
When you boil resolutions down to being little changes intended to shift the way you feel, it's easier to latch on to the idea that "Hey, maybe I can throw on a snow hat and race outside to take a run down the snowy slide." It's all right here for us, we just have to join in.
Be your own revolution!
