Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

Y’all…

I just have to share…

After e-learning from home since March of 2020, I approached this second pandemic-plagued summer determined to have my kids complete summer workbooks — for language arts and for math.

I was adamant we would avoid the summer slide.

I was hellbent on ensuring there be at least half an hour a day of continued workbook-style learning.

Folks, we didn’t make it past page 13. Not past chapter one.

In one book, we didn’t even make it to page two.

You know, school starts tomorrow for my three and I could beat myself up for slacking and letting the kids follow suit, or I can

pour myself a glass wine,

marvel at my three beautiful, kind, healthy and happy children,

and see that we did anything but.

Ain’t no way to slack your way through a pandemic and still be

standing,

smiling,

full of hope and joy

and ready and excited for another first day of school.

And that’s where we are.

And if that’s where you are too, great job, mama—you’ve done well.
